Unit Title: Social Policy and Development Impacts
The unit provides students with basic knowledge about social policy and how it influences the lives of individuals, families, and communities. Social Policy also examines how social workers and the social work profession are influenced by, and can influence social policy. The unit will make specific reference to the competing definitions of social policy, social welfare, the role of political ideologies and values in shaping policy development, implementation and evaluation in the face of contemporary globalization and population transformations such as migration and urbanization. Furthermore, In realizing and acknowledging the influences and effects of globalization and inequality the he Government needs to develop a social policy that can be used as a force for progressive transformation and for sustainable, equitable, gender-and Social Inclusion and socially-just development.
