Unit Title: Academic English
SNU500 is a foundational unit for many faculties and schools at Solomon Islands National University for first-year students in undergraduate students in which English is their second language. It prepares students for university studies in which English is the language of instruction. Also, it consists of four modules that focus on critical reading, academic writing, pronunciation of English as an international language, and oral and communication and presentation skills.
This unit outline contains information about each unit topic that makes up the Academic English unit package. There are also important sections to explain some of the fundamental expectations on students of English for Academic Purposes (EAP); the forms of assessment that are used to evaluate students in EAP; and some of the key areas of support, principally during your studies.
