Unit Title: Making Sense of the World
This is a year 2 unit which introduce to early childhood teacher trainees the importance of introducing scientific, mathematical and technological thinking in the early years of education. The unit focuses on the teacherβs role in ECE in developing them to understand the world as children see it, and facilitating their learning in various ways. The curriculum focus is on children βmaking sense of the worldβ, coming to understandings about whatβs going on and how things work, to develop βworking theoriesβ. Areas of discussion include empowerment and curriculum areas such as developing early mathematical, scientific and technological thinking in ECE settings.
