Unit Title: Advanced Calculus
This unit will introduce you appreciate the application of calculus in society. MTH601 is also designed to demonstrate various differentiation techniques that will enable mathematicians to be confidence in their mathematical abilities. The calculus part of MTH601 is expanded in greater detail. Students cover various aspects of differentiation, starting from first principles. The product and quotient rules of differentiation are covered, with trigonometric and exponential examples, among others. The integration part of the unit then takes centre stage, with the integration of various types of trigonometric and hyperbolic functions studied. Topics include definite and indefinite integrals of polynomial, trigonometric, exponential and combined functions. In addition Calculus 2 will include techniques used to solve differential equations and the application of calculus in Science and engineering.
