Unit Title: Family and Home Environment
A family is a social unit that is constantly affected by social changes. In this unit, students will learn the cultural and social factors that cause changes to the structure, patterns, rights, roles, and responsibilities of families. The symbiotic relationship between family and community is emphasized to enable students to identify their roles in the community. Social Issues such as extramarital affairs, STI, malnutrition, drug abuse, gender issues, domestic violence, and family planning will be investigated to identify the cause, and effects and allow students to make thoughtful recommendations on how families can cope using social services and resources available to them at home and in the communities. Management of family resources and the Home environment help families meet different family functions, thus the basic Management concepts are emphasized in this Unit.
