University Preparatory College

SINU Preparatory College is a newly established institution of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) that came into existence in 2020. Commonly referred to as University Preparatory College, or UPC for short, its establishment is a demonstration of SINU’s commitment to contribute to the national government’s efforts to increase accessibility to post-basic education in the Solomon Islands. Every year we have seen a large number of students completing Years 9, 11, and 12 dropped out from the formal education system because of limited access available in high schools. See more >>

Distance & Flexible Learning Centre

It is another sigh after a long challenging year in 2021 with COVID-19 impacts that affected more or less all aspects of our Distance Mode Operations. With our incapacity to engage in technology, learning and support quality fell well below satisfactory. This year, 2022, the challenge would be more difficult with COVID now, in the country. Nevertheless, these challenges have given us the opportunity to seek our innovativeness and creativity to help find solutions as we live and proceed with COVID into the future. See more >>

Centre for National Productivity

Since the establishment of SINU in 2013, it has focused almost exclusively on award courses for full time students. The needs for human resource development in the country now expands beyond producing people with formal qualifications at the Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Post Graduate levels. A major perceived demand is for training for people already in the workforce. By law, SINU is tasked with the responsibility, inter alia, of “improving the skills and knowledge of the existing work force through education and training” (s6a(11), SINU Act), hence, the establishment of the Centre for Productivity, Professional Development and Life-Long Learning (CPPDLL) trading name “Centre for National Productivity” (CNP).
