Unit Title: Solomon Islands Studies
This unit introduces students to the new field of Solomon Islands Studies. The Unit allows students to recognize and to think critically about issues which constitute Solomon Islands Studies. The unit also develop studentβ skills and knowledge of recognition and appreciation of Identities as Solomon Islanders, as well as develop critical thinking and analytical skills so necessary for living in todayβs rapidly changing society and world. Finally, the unit is aimed to provide an opportunity for students to apply a greater understanding and appreciation of religious, language and cultural diversity in a rapidly globalizing world as well to embrace a more holistic understanding of Solomon Islands as not an isolated or stand-alone entity but an inextricable member of the global community.
