Unit Title: Forest Mensuration

The unit introduces the students in forest measurement on areas which covers the following instructional areas: effective forest measurement that foresters needs to measure trees and forests, assess the resources to enhance students for the understanding and appreciation of the need for quantitative data based on accurate measurements, the measurement of single parameters such as height, diameter and basal area, calculation of stand variables, predominant height, volume and growth rate types and uses of forest inventories; plan; prescribe, and carry – out a mid-rotation and a pre-harvest inventory; and define the management strategies for sampling of forest plots – random sampling, stratified random sampling, multiphase sampling, systematic sampling, and be able to calculate forest carbon data analysis.
