Unit Title: Sustainable Development and Land Use
This unit is designed to provide some basic knowledge and practical skills in sustainable land use management practices on how and why human activity is currently involved in unsustainable land use and to establish the importance of future thinking. This broad field looks at how humans live, use, and move across space, and given the essential nexus between land and the environment, to show a substantial interest in learning the technical, legal, scientific, International conventions and policy tools related to sustainable land use management. The purpose of this unit, therefore, is to provide a pathway for building student expertise in this diverse arena including GIS and its application in land use planning.
