Unit Title: Introduction to Environmental Monitoring, Survey and Assessment
This unit outlines the importance of environmental assessment and monitoring and the tools used in carrying environmental assessment. They will be able to identify the different types of assessment tools and understand when and where each tool is applied. Students will be able to introduce to the steps and processes involved carrying out EIA. The policy guidelines of EIA will be examined and investigated with relevant examples in logging and mining. Students will understand better the challenges faced in carrying out effective EIA and able to find ways to fill in the gaps.
