Unit Title: Teaching Experience

This unit offers student an opportunity to attach to a selected school and start experiencing the art of teaching in a primary school context. Teaching experience (TE) or practicum is a very crucial component in any teacher education program regardless of the level of courses or program. Teaching experience is a follow up unit from EDU601 (Teaching Methods and Issues) which students should have completed prior to taking up this unit.  This unit will also provide opportunity for students to practice in real situation all the theoretical knowledge and skills obtained from FEH programmes. Since TE will be the first attempt in classroom teaching, challenges and issues are expected to arise, as teaching is a very complex undertaking. FEH lecturers and especially the TE coordinator should ensure necessary academic support and assistance to student is available. Throughout the duration of teaching experience, students will critically engage with practical knowledge, skills, and strategies for teaching and learning in a diverse and challenging educational contexts. This teaching experience unit provides student an opportunity to effectively apply broader knowledge of teaching and learning as they try to achieve the learning goals and outcomes of this unit.
