Unit Title: Educational Psychology

This unit offers an understanding of important learning processes that are key to developing relevant and appropriate teaching and learning strategies. The topics covered include cognitive, social and physical development during the school years, learning theories, instructional approaches, motivation, and individual differences. To train to be a teacher, one will wish to be as effective as he or she can be dealing with learners. The unit bridges the key developmental aspects of the learner and, the foundational learning theories, and possible strategies that a teacher can build on in reaching and tapping the learners abilities to bring out skills, knowledge and attributes that can take  the learner on a pathway to realizing his/her utmost potentials. This course is made out specifically for teacher trainees in primary and secondary schools and it is delivered over a semester.
