Unit Title: Communication & Study Skills
The students work towards mastering many communication and study skills required in their program of study. The lessons focus on reading techniques and comprehension; writing skills, such as the development of paragraphs; outlining, making citations; referencing; listening skills, study techniques, problem-solving skills, research skills, thinking skills, decision making, interpersonal skills, note-taking and summarizing, speeches and debates. It also covers comprehension, grammar; writing reports; memorandum letters; research essay, stress management, and time management. Given its focus on science, students must improve English language skills and capacity with interpretation and explanation of technical material including graphs, tables and diagrams; as well as writing and simplifying scientific materials for farmers and the general public. The preparation of speech; and improve communication and presentation skills along with adult life skills are vitally important in this unit.
