Unit Title: Climate Change and Agriculture

This unit covers climate change and its impacts on agriculture development and its diverse implications on pacific island countries. It focusses on the disadvantaged populations of the small island states and threats to agriculture commodities, export and high-value products. The topics covered include climate change concept, climate system and its function, natural and anthropogenic forcing, solar cycles, greenhouse effects and the carbon cycle. Also include challenges of the small island states, atolls and its threats to agriculture farming. The adaptation practices, diversification and vulnerability to agriculture farming, export products and other high valued products undermined export credibility and the aspirations of small island states in agriculture development. The forwarding key aspects of climate change need to be addressed within the established government and internationally recognized institution and organizations eg. UNDP, FAO, USAid etc.
